Lake Adventure on Tuesday, February 19, 2008
Hello Everyone!
My husband and I took a drive to Lake Adventure on Tuesday to see how our trailer was holding up during this winter season. Much to our relief.....all was well.....and the snow on the ground added to the beauty of the place. We stayed a while, enjoyed the quiet, had something to eat in the area and came back to observe the place in the moonlight! Light snow was falling and the sky was illuminated by the light of the moon! What a beautiful sight. We marveled at the beauty of nature and enjoyed the absence of sound! We had been greeted by at least 12 deer earlier in the day and now wondered where they had gone and how they were doing.
We look forward to spending our first spring and summer in LA and are planning our next trip back there sometime in early April.
Until then......stay warm, drive safely and think lovely thoughts! We look forward to seeing you all very soon.

FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS
a few nights ago i saw LETTER FROM IWO JIMA-- several months ago i saw the campanion film of FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS-- these were two exceptionally brilliant films directed by clint eastwood on the battle for iwo jima - each film was told from the viewpoint of each side fighting over this island- american and japanese -- it displayed the cultural differences of each side and how these conflicts are viewed and ultimately how each side proceeds to act in this type of enviroment--there was definitely two viewpoints on display in films and in the end i thought both sides believed in what they were doing in the name of their country --that is the main theme of these great films but there were also many multifacet elements highlighting the social attitudes during this period of american/japanese history--- fascinating achievement by clint eastwood and surely worth the time to watch two classic films
this is always amazing to me that as eastwood gets older he seems to create even more brilliant films -- this from the guy who got his start in films starring in spaghetti westerns -- who would have believed it back then -- he also along with his son scored these films -- he cowrote them with paul haggis - there is not much more this guy can do

week to think about
it sure has been a unusual week --- their were tragic killings and deaths all over the country and even locally -- the ice storm this week caused at least a dozen death here at home -- most of them were young people or individuals traveling through here on the interstates -- tough week!
on the other side most everyone celebrated one of the most significent holidays of the year - VALENTINES DAY -- a day to express your feelings for others -- from husbands and wives, other couples, to sons and daughters, even school children to one another of their peers -- i think back to 1st ot 2nd grade and remember how exciting it was to buy a bag of cards and envelopes for a few cents and give then out at school - to receive cards from other classmates was very thrilling -- i'm not sure the idea behind this practice was understood but the excitement and good feeling were real - it would be nice to express these fellings throughout the rest of the year--
then to top of the week there was UNO -- a real good feeling that a little beagle could come out on top was just what was needed to close out this week - a happy feeling for a beautiful dog!!
so here to celebrate UNO is a clip with a cartoon with SNOOPY -- as a young person i thought Schultz and the wonderful characters he created were practically my religion -- they were so inspiring-

UNO -- yes a beagle has won the westminister dog show for the first time since the 1930's -- what a great looking mutt!
UNO got a standing ovation - the only dog to receive this honor---- i guess UNO won't have to beg for his food -- actually his owner will have to do the begging ---- yea really!

i'm adding a new feature to the blog -- POLLS -- throughout the summer i will run various polls to see what may be of interest to la members ---i will alternate the questions - i will also keep track of the items and occasionally publish the results -- maybe i'll even rant if something sets me off and that has been known to happen--- now i can only run them for a duration of a week -- somehow you can increase the time cycle but right now i haven't figured out what to do to accomplish that - i'll work on it -- any one who has sugggestions for the questions can email me them at lachipper@gmail.com -- hope you find this feature interesting - chipper
